Earlier wearing tailored coat, trousers or slim skirts was part of strict corporate wardrobe, but with the changing times, they are styled as more daily wears. For hyper–connected youth it’s like softening the edges between formals, and casuals. They are embracing them on a more regular bases, making them look gracefully polished yet laid back.
Those were the days when professional fits were only for organisations. Now, this generation has made these structured outfits look cool beyond workspace doors. They are decked out in oversized blazer, pairing pants with shoes, and skirts in such ways that scream both conviction, and comfort.
Kajal Singh, a 23-year-old, studying Master’s in Business Administration at Tecnia Institute of Advanced Studies, Delhi, “I love dressing in suit jackets, even when I’m just heading out for coffee. It makes me feel put together without looking too bossy. I pair it with a crop top and sneakers, and it’s the perfect mix of sleek and smooth look.”
Another most favourite staple in clothing collection is the skater skirt, which was once a part of business apparel, but is now a chill go-to look. Styling a skirt with a sweater, or a relaxed throw-on layer with a tank top, is the most beautiful piece which is loved by so many people.
Supakshi Dhamija, a 24-year-old, Practising CA, Delhi says, “I never thought I’d love suit trousers outside of official gatherings, but they are super comfortable! I just love relaxed blazer, a simple T-shirt, and white sneakers, and I’m ready for anything.”
This blend of professionalism and experimenting reflects how these trendsetters’ values both aesthetic and practicality. They know how to add a sense of polish to their everyday looks.
Social media plays an important role here. Platforms like Instagram and Pinterest are flooded with the inspirational trends featuring how daywear’s are combined, with smart silhouettes for power dressing. Influencers like Kritika Khurana as known as Thatbohogirl with 1.8 million followers make reels through which she helps people understand how to elevate and make soft formal ensemble look classy.
Jyotika Taparia, a 26-year-old, homemaker and practising graphologist, in Delhi, shares, “Social media has made me rethink my closet. I never thought of being in pleated pants this regularly, but now it’s my favourite. It makes every look effortlessly fashionable.”
This trend is like investing in versatile pieces that are made for multiple occasions. One thing is clear, workwear’s are no longer confined to the 9- to- 5 looks, they are experimental and make an outfit more modern.
